Transforming Style From the Inside Out Woman of Style & Faith, Deidra Bibbs

October 10, 2017

Hey lovelies, we are back with another spotlight featuring a dynamic Woman of Style & Faith- Mrs. Deidra Bibbs! Deidra describes herself as a true girly-girl, and rightfully so, as witnessed by her pretty style, poise and grace. She's not only a girl's girl, but a girl that's after God's own heart endeavoring to point all of us other girls to His heart, over at her blog Our Home His Heart. The lifestyle and faith blog is not only full of topics on beauty, style and home decor, but faith-based encouragement rooted in God's Word. The devotions she posts are prayerfully written to strengthen and inspire women to their lives beautifully, both inside and out! We introduce the inspiring Mrs. Bibbs to you, please enjoy her interview below!

Tell Saintly Style a little about yourself/background, and about your blog and how you got started? What about these things inspires you?

Hey Everyone! I’m Deidra Bibbs and I blog over at www.ourhomehisheart.com, which is a Lifestyle + Faith fusion blog. Originally from Raleigh, NC, I currently live in the Charlotte area with my husband and my 2-year-old son. I love God, my family and friends, and I love all things beauty and style related, including home décor! My degree is in Elementary Education and spent several years as a Kindergarten teacher before deciding to be a stay-at-home mom until my son is school age. Ever since I can remember, I have loved writing and helping others.

I began writing devotions in my journal and found such happiness in doing so! For years, I toyed around with the idea of having a blog where I could share God’s love by sharing my devotions with other women, as well as my love for beauty and style, inspiring them to live beautifully from the inside out.

I found that when I wrote devotions in my journal, I was able to connect with God closely and could hear from God clearly. Having that intimate connection each day and clarity was therapeutic for me, so I share my devotions with others in hopes of inspiring them as well.

Being obedient to God, I took a giant leap of faith and started my blog when my son was just 8 months old. I view my blog as my ministry, as well as a way to stay creative during this season of life I am in. I knew absolutely nothing about blogging when I started, but what I did know for sure was that God put a desire in me to inspire other women through this platform, no matter how big or small it grew to be. Inspiration comes in many forms. God always equips us for what He calls us to do!

God has empowered me to use the gifts He placed in me in a unique way: my love for writing, the passion to share His word, and a healthy affection for things related to beauty and style! Women are naturally multi-faceted. We all have so much in common! It is great to be able to share aspects of each piece of me with others.

How do you couple your faith with what you do and as a blogger etc, if blogging isn’t what you do solely?

My faith is the very basis for who I am: a child of God, a wife, a mother, and so much more! Seeking God daily is important to me. I rely on the Lord for everything, including His guidance for the direction my blog takes, along with what content that I produce.

Deidra2 b.png

How do you manage and a maintain balance in the different aspects of your professional & personal life along with your relationship with God?

Balance is key! Finding the right balance in life is how I stay focused on living the best that God has for me. By keeping Jesus at the center of everything, I notice that balance occurs more organically. Hindsight is 20/20 and I can reflect back on times where I would try to do things on my own, without seeking God’s guidance and plan, and would end up frustrated. Now, I make sure to start and end each day with God and talk to Him throughout the day to stay connected.

Just like with teaching, with running a blog, there is always going to be something to learn or some work that could be done. The important thing for me is to have boundaries and limits, so that I know when it is time to put work away and just simply live and be present in the moment. All work and no play is never fun for anyone. A planner keeps me organized and sticking to a schedule helps me to set limits and boundaries. The planner helps me to prioritize so that I am giving enough of myself and my time to the things and people I love. I make designated days “blogging days” and try to be as efficient as possible on those days. Making a monthly plan and sticking with it helps when blogging to make sure my time is being used wisely when I do sit down to write and do other things for my blog.

What’s been your greatest accomplishment thus far?

My greatest accomplishment thus far would be becoming a mother. There is just something about becoming a parent that helps you to see clearly what your purpose is. I see parenthood as a blessing and an honor. It really forces you to identify what is really important to you. It matured me, gave me clarity, filled my heart with even more joy, and challenges me to be better in every way.

I see you're married to your college sweetheart. I’m married to my high school sweetheart, 29 years in July, and our journey hasn’t been without trial and error, however God is amazing and has kept and blessed us through it all, and I love tell people so. Please tell us about your journey.

I am married to my college sweetheart and we just celebrated 7 years of marriage! My husband is so special to me for many reasons. One being that he actually led me to Christ when we were just friends back in college! We were able to build a strong relationship based solely on friendship for many years before even dating.

One thing that we both had to learn early in our relationship is how to effectively communicate with each other. So many disagreements could have been avoided with proper communication! However, I am thankful for those times, because God has allowed us to grow together and it is so evident now that we have learned effective ways to communicate with one another. We remember to keep God first and we laugh - a whole lot!

What about fashion do you love most? Are there any new trends or concepts in fashion that’s piqued your interest as of late?

Freedom to express your own personal style is what I love most about fashion. Looking in magazines and seeing what others are wearing is great for inspiration. It is fun to take that same idea and then add your own spin on it! I’m really into stud details on clothing and shoes, floral prints, camo, and things with iron-on patches! Denim and the color black will always be in style. Most times, you’ll find me in something made of denim, camo, or something black!

Deidra5 b.png

Do you have any particular designers/stores/brands that you just love and even prefer when actually shopping for clothes or when reviewing certain pieces to blog? If so, tell me why these in particular are your go-to?

My go-to stores for clothes are Nordstrom, Loft, Target, TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, American Eagle Outfitters, GAP, and H & M. Sephora and Ulta are favorites for beauty products, although I do use a good deal of drugstore products in my routine. Great things can be found at all price points, as long as you know your style, what to look for, and how to find quality things. All of these clothing stores have such variety, so putting looks together is easy. Investment pieces are great to have because they are items that you’ll have in your wardrobe for years to come.

Is there anything you will not wear even if it’s considered haute or on trend?

If something is uncomfortable, fits poorly, and is fussy, or just simply does not feel like “me,” I will not wear it. I realize that sometimes things may be a better fit for someone else’s body-type and style and I can admire it on them. There is nothing worse than ill-fitting clothing and having to tug on things constantly! I’d rather wear things I feel good in and try to embrace the body and unique features that God has given me.

Deidra7 b.png

“What’s Your Style Innuendo” (the way you would like others to consider or view what your style is without you even saying a word when they see you)?

My style innuendo is simple, classic, and comfortable with fun and subtle details. I always want to wear things that make me feel like myself no matter what I’m doing or where I’m going. I tend to stay pretty classic in my style, only adding a few trends here and there. Details and accessories are important and can make all the difference!

Now, how would you describe your overall style (lifestyle) – dress, education, personality, things you do, your circle etc? How has your overall style evolved in the past few years and why?

As a toddler mom, my Monday through Friday lifestyle is very casual. Having a daily routine helps a lot. For church, going out with friends, and date nights, getting all dolled up is so fun! It took some trial and error, but I’ve learned over the years what my style is.

Building a wardrobe around quality basics, adding interesting details here and there, and mixing high and low pieces, works great for me. Good accessories and jackets can take the simplest outfit to the next level! When I didn’t really know my style, I can remember buying things and having doubts while in the store, but deciding to purchase anyway…BIG MISTAKE!

I started to notice that those things never got worn, so they were a waste of money. But the blessing in that was that I was able to get a clear picture of what things I actually do gravitate towards and reach for in my closet, which is how I discovered my own personal style. It’s definitely a process. I now know that doubt means don’t! If something is questionable in the store or fitting room, there’s no way you will feel any different once it’s home!

My personality is easy to talk to, kind, and fun loving! I’m definitely a dreamer, a thinker, and a reflective person. To me, learning is a lifelong journey.

This blog series is about not only highlighting careers, businesses and accomplishments, but transforming style from the inside out, therefore, how can one transform their style and faith in a positive, progressive manner, and maintain it without compromise?

I would say to always keep your priorities in mind as you are transforming your style and your faith. Staying true to yourself and your values is what is most important. Take things step-by-step and day-by-day, enjoying the process along the way. Let God transform you and mature you in your faith. True beauty really starts from within, so pay just as much attention (if not more) to what’s on the inside, just as much as the outside!

What’s next on the horizon for you, your blog, ministry etc?

I want to continue to share what I love and prayerfully inspire others through my blog! Because I have such a love for writing, I have many future plans that will allow me to develop and utilize that skill even more. I will continue to seek God for what His plan is for me as I constantly aspire to be the best version of myself. Focusing on family is a major priority for me, as well.

Everyone visit Deidra at the following social platforms below and also find weekly encouragement and more that will inspire you to be beautiful from the inside out.

NYFW S/S 2018 Days 1 & 2

September 21, 2017

Once again it's that time to share my experience! The chaos, cosmetics and costumes of that wonderful crazy. That crazy we fashionistas love and get revved up for every six months - the experience we call New York Fashion Week! This season, Spring/Summer 2018, because of work obligations, I headed to NYC to begin seeing shows on Friday, September 8 rather than that Wednesday when it officially kicked-off. I skipped one show earlier that day and opted to meet a friend/blogger/sorority sister Evelyn of Fashion Briefs (pictured above wearing the hat), who's a newbie on the fashion week circuit, doing all the Nolcha Shows with her instead. For this post I'm actually going to switch things up a bit and shift things in reverse, starting at Day 2 instead, since Day 1 has more shows and pics to cover. Day 2 shows started with what was actually a presentation, not a show. As you'll see below, it was the Banana Republic X Olivia Palermo Fall 2017 collabo (that's right Fall, not Spring/Summer '18),"see now, buy now" presentation. Let me tell you it was a jam packed, mad house, both inside their 5th avenue Flagship store in Flatiron, and outside on the sidewalks getting in and even on the street! This is typical NYFW cray and I wouldn't expect it to be any other way!

I know this post is long, but please indulge me and continue to scroll down further, to witness my Day 1, full of fashion and fun! Let's start below at Day 2, Banana Republic, where I'm also wearing Fall Banana Republic for my look and then move on to newcomer To Be Thrill by Edison Lu and then special occasion designer Mac Duggal. Enjoy friends!

Divas, although these Marc Fisher shoes I'm wearing look great and while the heel isn't too high, word to the wise - carry an extra large bag with you, something the size of a tote not only for all those goodies and giveaways you collect during the week, but to carry an extra pair of flat, walking shoes or kicks for comfort. Running in heels during NYFW can be killer on your feet. Girl, what, my feet were screaming, lol!!! Stay tuned for my next post on Day 3 & 4 looks and runway shows! #SybilStreetSTYLe

The Big Score - 29 Years of Marriage 7. 23. 88

July 23, 2017

Hey guys, hope you’re still enjoying summer 17. I’m so excited because Hubs and I reached a milestone in our relationship – 29 years of marriage. To commensurate it, I decided to have football jerserys made and do a shoot to show them and our love off with a story using the analogy of football to do so. I hope feel my heart on this one! 7. 23 .88

My life with this guy right here of 29 years (31 including dating in high school) has been one heck of a journey, one that I can compare to the game of football. He's the quarterback and I'm his wide receiver (and even running back, having his back). This is by God’s design, as men give and women receive. As in the game, we’ve had to put in a lot of practice to get the score. Just as football players know that there is a possibility of getting hurt, we commit and go anyway, playing through any pain and hurt because the beauty of wining outweighs the regret of not being in the game or any pain we’ve endured. When we missed training camp and off season workouts, it was obvious. We’ve experienced fumbles (a lot) and the turnovers that occur in marriage, but despite the penalties incurred, we are a team. A team that’s still moving the ball, making a three-yard gain after every obstacle and getting back up and into the game after being sidelined by the factors and trials that can dismantle a marriage.

FullSizeRender (3).jpg

For real for real, marriage is not a game it is also not the fairytale that many envision. It is also NOT for the faint of heart. It is for warriors and champions determined to win. To be, and stay married one has to be mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally tough as nails.

By any means necessary, so don't let the necessary occur! Jay & Bey eat your heart out! #BonnieAndClyde <3

By any means necessary, so don't let the necessary occur! Jay & Bey eat your heart out! #BonnieAndClyde <3

Our marriage isn’t perfect at all, but we are perfect teammates for one another and we are making moves and scoring touch downs in this game called married life. 29 years is not easy feat, we are eternally grateful and consider ourselves blessed. We are so looking forward to achieving 29 more and reaching our Super Bowl, as we seek and follow the directions of our coach, God, above and follow the guidelines as laid out in our playback – The B-I-B-L-E; until death do us part, when that final whistle is blown!

DSC_0663.JPG

I pray this encourages you whether in marriage or some other goal you are working toward. Don’t lose passion. Don’t lose spirit. Don’t stop making moves forward. Don’t lose vision of why you began playing the game in the first place – to win!

BeFunky Collage 3.jpg

I hope you enjoy our "29 year love montage" we certainly enjoyed shooting them! These 29 years has been the sweetest love I've ever known!

Coney Island Swag - The Art & It's People

June 20, 2017

Cue the music: "Brooklyn home to the greatest rappers, BIG comes first and the Queen comes after" ~ "Lil Kim. Anyone that knows me is very much aware that I love Brooklyn (although at times (a lot) when I was living there it was a love/hate relationship, LOL). I love the unique energy, the culture with its edge and grittiness and the backdrop that Brooklyn provides for photographic adventures. Brooklyn's art and culture provides plenty to see, do and explore. One thing I like to see there is the Coney Art Walls and do is take pictures, while visiting the boardwalk. Coney Art Walls is an outdoor museum of curated street art presented by several of the leading painters and sculptures in New York, in addition to leading artists connected with street culture. Located in the heart of the Coney Island Amusement District, Coney Art Walls is adjacent to the original Nathan’s hot dog restaurant and within walking distance of Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park and Luna Park home of the iconic Cyclone roller coaster, etc. (see photo gallery)

Don't get me wrong, as I posted a caption on IG somewhat comparing Coney's art walls to those in Miami, I've been to Miami and witnessed how great the murals are at Wynwood Walls, but for me it's just something about art walls in BK, they have heat and heart. Sidebar: In terms of beachin' hands down Miami reigns, Florida period as far as white sand and clear waters are concerned. That's a no brainer! I love the walls, and the lived experience with its grimy undertones, walking the boardwalk, doing the amusement park thing at Coney. But mama not getting in the water! Back to the topic at hand, BK arts walls and it's edge, I think it has everything to do with the area and the spirit of the people that seems to just float in the air. The collision of art, hip hop (on heavy rotation at CI) and rawness are all so organic. Despite the fact that many of the neighborhoods in Brooklyn have become gentrified and cosmopolitan, it's just some mad, creative expression and dopeness that resonates from the people that are from there and not just go there.

That BK flavor just puts me in the zone, I just go with it and start postin up for the cam. How could one not, with all that dopeness as a backdrop, you'd be crazy! The boughetto comes out (multiple personalities of Sybil) and I starting sanging BIG, Hov and Lil Kim lyrics! My look had to reflect all that flavor, dopeness etc that I've been ranting about, so I felt this Chicago Bulls bodysuit was thee best choice (my Topshop in the DMV doesn't carry the NY one, both are linked, Bulls comes in black as well) but I like red better anyway paired with my cargo jacket and these frayed, jean shorts. I accesorized with my Brian Atwood sandals, a Forever 21 tinted black translucent visor and Urban Outfitters black rimmed, tinted aviator sunnies. Did you happen to see the feather hem I added to my military jacket! I tricked it out a little and did it so I could remove it when switching the look up! How's that for some Brooklyn X #SybilStreetSTYLe, boughetto ain't so bad afterall!!!

DMV homies - my girlfriend from high school, Lashon and her oldest daughter, Darnae'. My mini-me Symone, who I lived in Brooklyn with. Lashon and I had our girls around the same time, and they've remained friends there entire lives.

When we were taking shots of the various walls, this gentlemen made me laugh when turning sideways to take his pic! This is Alfred, who hails from Mobile Alabama, now residing in the Bronx, who just happens to be the butler for Giorgio Armani!

Transforming Style From the Inside Out, Woman Of Style & Faith: Toni Lucas

June 14, 2017

We are pleased to introduce this week’s Woman of Style & Faith, Toni Lucas. Toni is a senior hairstylist, entrepreneur, real estate investor and the CEO & Founder of both Mi’TreChic LLC and Sisters Sad No More Empowerment Organization. Miss Toni Lu blessed us with some serious transparency sharing her story of how she’s overcome years of challenge-after-challenge, but now uses that victorious spirit to help other women overcome and become triumphant too. This multifaceted woman chats not only about faith, losses & gains, but also how she feels overwhelmingly excited about her upcoming event – We Are Overcomers Extravaganza that launches her dynamic Sisters Sad No More Empowerment Organization. Although, she’s faced some serious obstacles in producing this event, even going against the recommendations of those that really care who are close to her to postpone to a later date. Knowing that they meant really well, she decided to move forward regardless, going full-throttle, putting her total trust in God to make provision for the vision He placed in her heart. And we must say we are so glad she did! We commend this strong woman of faith; her story is the embodiment of what we strive to champion here on the Saintly Style Blog - #StyleAndSubstance. Please read and be blessed by Toni Lu’s interview below!

Tell us a little about yourself personally and what you do professionally. What inspires you about what you do?

My name is Toni Lucas, I’m the 50-year-young, mom of two - son Leon, 32 and daughter Amelah, 20, and a divorcee after 11 years of marriage. I’m also caretaker for my mother who has stage four cancer. I have been a cosmetologist for 30 plus years, I’m also an Entrepreneur, Realtor and the Founder & CEO of Mi'TreChic LLC and Sisters Sad No More Empowerment Organization. I was formerly the partner in a hair salon by the name of Textures And Tones for three years, then became the sole owner of TreChic Couffeur Salon for six years . I closed down my Salon in 2009 due to the failing economy.

I never planned on becoming a hair stylist. I truly believe it was God's plan for my life. I always thought I would dress up in my suits and heels and go to my office with a big window and beautiful view. I am really serious. I was 19-years-old riding on the bus going to see my son's father in prison. Yes prison, lol. (Sidebar: In defense of my son's father, when I initially met him, he had a good office job working for Bell Atlantic, but got caught up into the times of street life and fast money as many young men did during that period, but he's a good guy and we have a great relationship) On the bus this particular day, I sat beside this young lady and we begin to talk. I mentioned to her that I was looking for a new job. At the time I was working at Roy Rogers restaurant and I had a one-year-old son, whose father was in prison, so obviously I needed more income. The young lady asked me if I could shampoo hair because she worked in a hair salon downtown. I responded, “I can shampoo my own.” We laughed! She said they paid $375 a week which was more than I was making at Roy Rogers, so I said give me the information and I will visit the salon tomorrow. I went that next day, but the young lady decided that she was going to keep the guy that she already had another chance and keep him on board. I was about to walk out the door and a lady called me back and said she liked my outfit and then she asked if I was there to get a job, I replied yes. I told her what happened with the other lady about giving the guy another chance. She went on to ask if I knew how to shampoo and if I ever worked in a hair salon. I told her no, but I was willing to learn whatever I needed to in order to do so. While she couldn’t pay me $375, she was able to pay me $175 a week only, which was still more than what I made at Roy Rogers, so I took the offer. The lady told me to be there at 9 a.m. the next morning and thus I started at Adean's Hair Salon in 1986 as a shampoo assistant for Sandra Bland. At the time Adean's was a very successful salon, but when I left a year-and-half later with Sandra who started Sandra And The Stars, its success surpassed that of Adeans and was one of the top and most sought out salons in the 1980s thru the early 90s for African-American women in the Washington, DC area. It was there I became a hairstylist through an apprenticeship program and went on take make a very impressive amount of money as a first year stylist. I even was awarded the Most Outstanding Young Hairstylist among my peers that first year!

I'm inspired by being a hairstylist because I love helping women look good and feel good about themselves. I'm also inspired being an entrepreneur because I love to be able to do what I like and go when I like to. I also love creating ways to make more money and having no limit to the amount of money I can make or the use of my potential and gifts within me.

How do you couple your faith with what you do professionally?

Being an entrepreneur and hairstylist you never know exactly how much money you are going to make each month. I haven't began working as a realtor or investor yet. However, it works the same. So regarding how I maintain my life along with my relationship with God, I pray a great deal and I asked God to bless me with clients and a successful event. I truly put my faith in God, not my clients. I have experienced a lot of disappointment from clients that I have given discounts to or did free when they have either lost their jobs, gotten sick or been abandoned by mates and left with only one income . So I don't trip I just pray and just do my best to serve them when they sit in my chair for hair care.

How do you manage and a maintain balance in the different aspects of your professional & personal life along with your relationship with God?

I go to church, however not every Sunday, but I listen to gospel and worship music all day, that’s how I stay motivated and get through each day. And of course, I pray throughout the day. I basically play nothing but Christian music in my car, at times my friends will laugh while riding with me saying, “Toni we are getting ready to go to the club and you’re listening to nothing but gospel music.” Yes, this is the case, and I make no apologies for my faith, and the God I believe and trust in.

What advice can you give others who have interests in what you do, what type of direction would you give them?

My advice to someone who would like to do hair is to enroll in and finish cosmetology school. Then go work at a salon where they can receive continuous education and great guidance from senior stylists. Also, pay your taxes, and both your health and disability insurances and invest in your retirement. Be professional and prompt for work at all times. It's truly a great career; I wouldn't change being a hairstylist all these years for nothing. I LOVE IT!!!

What’s been your greatest accomplishment thus far?

My greatest accomplishment has been being a mother that my children can be open with, being a good daughter to my mom, and being a good, loyal friend (so they tell me. Lol). Also becoming a hairstylist and being a true woman of God who is transparent in so many areas of my life, so much so that it enables me to help other women.

Tell me about the any challenges you’ve faced, how you endured and what keeps you wedded to what you do?

A big challenge for me is, as a self-employed individual, you never know exactly how much you're going to make and if you’re going to make enough to pay your bills. Also, now standing on my feet for so many hours, I get tired faster. Being that I’m a good stylist with over 30 years under my belt, I have a pretty okay clientele and God's favor is on my life so I just continue to go day-by-day knowing that He's going to provide everything I need. I’ve never thought of getting another job. I’m thankful and God has blessed me, and as I mentioned, I trust God for provision and do my best to serve.

Having to be concerned with financial stability and the physical strain that comes from standing styling hair can be difficult to handle, even now. Years before that I had to deal with something really major- the death of my infant daughter. I was nine months pregnant when I went to the doctor on a Tuesday and my baby was just fine, and by Wednesday I wasn't feeling any activity from her. So I told my friend, if I didn't feel her moving I was going to the doctor the next day. On Thursday, I went to see my doctor, only to hear him tell me my baby girl was dead. Just a year ago, I was challenged with ultimate divorce from my 'wasband' (was my husband) due to our failing marriage. We met in church, dated, got engaged in 2003, married in 2005 and unfortunately divorced in 2016.

I’ve had to endure many health challenges, including battling issues with fibroids. I actually have no spleen, no gallbladder, no agnoids, no tonsils - all gone. And dare I forget to mention I have a very rare 1 and 100 million blood disorder, hemoglobin CC (sickle cell trait). Once they were able to actually identify and diagnose what I had, the doctors said I could hit the lottery with my odds on that one, Lol! This is one of the reasons I closed my salon along with the failing economy. However, it the was one of the best things that ever happened because I was sick and needed to care for myself, but I couldn’t fully tend to my health because I had to keep working to make sure everyone else could still work and get paid. Although I was still working, I couldn’t pay myself though because of my responsibilities as the owner to my employees, as they had to get paid first. After I paid them, there was really nothing left for me. So closing the salon was a blessing in disguise, as it allowed me to obtain better insurance and get the rest/care I needed and the surgery necessary to resolve my issue. I had truly become the woman with the issue of blood, bleeding for three straight months before having my procedure. Although these situations were a tremendous burden and devastating in some cases (losing my baby), I certainly don’t look like, neither do I sound like what I’ve been through. God took care of me through it all. I trust Him because He’s proven Himself so faithful to me. Even my wasband and I are really good friends today, because I/we choose to be. When God has kept you and blessed you in spite of, there's no time to be bitter, scorned and walking around with your head hung low. I truly thank God for His grace and His joy, and I know my story will help if not many, at least one women to endure and overcome. Helping other women to become beautiful and victorious, keeps me wedded to what I do.

What about fashion do you love most? Are there any new trends or concepts in fashion that’s piqued your interest as of late?

I love to wear black I guess because I'm a hairstylist and that is part of our uniform, however; I wear black even when I'm not working. I also love maxi dresses, that's my signature look, they’ve always looked good on me and fit well on my body type. I love big statement neck pieces and I love hoop earrings. Leggings and high heels are also favorites for me, I have been wearing heels since the 8th grade!

What about innovations or trends in hairstyling and haircare, as your hairstyle is very much a huge part of a woman’s style? Do you have any particular designers/stores/brands that you just love and even prefer when actually shopping for clothes? If so, tell me why these in particular are your go-to?

I don’t really trip on new trends. In terms of hairstyling, I love weaves or ‘extensions’ as they’re called now because it’s easy care. I also love short haircuts and color. Today, I'm not really caught up on designer clothing and expensive stores, in particular. I just like nice quality clothing and real leather bags, especially love high-end on sale. I feel money saved is money made.

Are there any particulars celebrities or personalities whose style you admire, and why?

I love the style of Kim Kardashian and Lala Anthony. Both these ladies bodies are shaped similar to mine. I think their styles are sexy and classy.

Is there anything you will not wear even if it’s considered haute or on trend?

I hate mini-skirts because I have a big buttock and the skirt rises up all the time. Even if it's haute couture or the on-trend thing, I won't wear it. I won't wear anything that doesn't look right on me.

DSC_0158.JPG

I have a witty style question that I like asking all you stylish gals of faith, “What’s Your Style Innuendo” (the way you would like others to consider or view what your style is without you even saying a word when they see you)?

My style innuendo, I would say is classy, stylish and sexy.

How would you describe your overall style (lifestyle) – dress, education, personality, things you do, your circle etc?

My lifestyle is a little complex today. My education is continuing. I'm a strong willed compassionate woman. I love to go on vacations and be with my family and true friends.

How has your overall style evolved in the past few years?

My style has changed just a little, I wear less jeans and more dresses.

This blog series is about not only highlighting careers, businesses and accomplishments, but transforming style from the inside out, therefore, how can one transform their style and faith in a positive progressive manner, maintain it and do so without compromise?

Be yourself and those things you don't like about yourself or you feel needs to change that are beyond your control, pray and give those things to God and allow Him to do the transforming, as you submit yourself to Him.

What are your thoughts on saved folk wearing tattoos- just like wearing an accessory and you do wear it as an accessory, or are you against it personally because of scripture?

I’m a saved, GOD loving and fearing woman. I have 5 tattoos. They all mean something for me, so that's all that counts, and not because of any fad, but what they represent to me.

What’s next on the horizon for you professionally and personally?

I’m excited that I just finished real estate school and am looking forward to becoming an investor. My biggest enthusiasm is my Sisters Sad No More Empowerment Organization, LLC. I am launching my inaugural event in the Washington, D.C. metro area: the We Are Overcomers Extravaganza! This is full out women’s empowerment event on Sunday, June 25th @3pm in The Hampton Conference Center, featuring dynamic speakers and entertainers, with powerful stories of triumph that will uplift everyone in attendance. Saying that I’m SUPER EXCITED about this event is an understatement. I truly believe being a hairstylist is the way God led me to get me to this point in my life to help other women, as it’s afforded me the opportunity to meet so many different women and to pour into their lives. This is the reason why I will never regret becoming a hairstylist. I think about how I planned and hosted my first event years ago, which was one of the largest kiddie cabarets in the DMV on Valentine's Day and the other events including fashion and hair shows, not realizing all these years later that I would be producing one of the biggest events of my life. Those events helped to prepare me for my assignment today- the opportunity for God to use me to impart life, hope and deliverance on a even greater level, into lives of so many women. This is such a great honor to me. I desire women to be free, empowered and triumphant in every area of their lives not only within. It's my prayer and endeavor to accomplish just that with this event! What I want for myself, I want for others. How could I want success and wealth for myself and not want it for others. #TTHANKUGOD #sisterssadnomore

Blush Touches

May 24, 2017

Hey lady loves! Hope you've been great since you lasted visited Saintly Style. I want to talk to you briefly about this fab blush pullover that's super duper soft and super duper cute from Free People. Initially when I spotted it I was drawn of course by the color first, as I am a pink girl, then when I went to take a closer look to exam details, I felt how soft it was. Next, I noticed the sassy off-the-shoulder detail and drapey sleeves. When I got home and tried it on, it fit really well, as I have to watch my tops since I've gained weight and I'm already top heavy. This sweater worked and is a keeper, and didn't make me look more bulky on top. If this isn't enough for you, might I add that's this sweater, which reminds me of a sweatshirt that's much softer, is on deep discount. I initially paid $128, but it went down to $42 in store, online it's $69. If that doesn't seal the deal, I don't know what will. Unless you don't like pink, super soft, cutesy pullovers that's on major markdown! Although I love all shades of pink (hot, berry, rose etc), this blush pink is trending for spring 2017 and especially in my closet as of late!

Here I styled this pullover with one of the my fav pieces, my rose gold pencil skirt. I thought the values and shapes worked really well together, then I amped it up some by adding some cool to the warm with the silver metallic scarf and these silver pumps for even more compliments. I don't have any pics of me wearing the personality glasses with the outfit (accidentally deleted), but it added a bit of coolness to my effortless chic! For a little more styling ideas for this pullover, I've also worn it with white skinny jeans & my pink/white Adidas and also with a white denim skirt, pink suede mules & a choker! Click HERE to actually see the the kicks Im talking about and another way I styled this skirt! Hope you like my blushing details with a touch of silver! I truly loved the details, and this effortless look, it really reflects #SybilStreetSTYLe

Denim Daze

May 20, 2017

Howdy folks! I couldn't resist saying that, b/c traditionally when I think of denim on denim I'd naturally default to think of country western. But today, this trend is far beyond that of cowboy hats and spurs on boots. Gone are the days of laughing with your girls about the person seen sporting a full denim "ensemble!" Double denim is quite cool and can be perfectly chic when done right. Don't get me wrong, too much of any good thing can go left and be deemed a fashion faux pas - think Justin and Brittney! So let's not overdose on denim. Most fashion experts would say, mix up your rinses, which is dead on, but I just decided to be risky (and a little defiant) and do matchy-matchy! I like the fringe detail not only at the shoulder but around the hemline as well, which breaks up the monotony a bit and gives more interest to my double on. I tied a bandana around my neck for even more urban bang and put on my copper Nike Cortez, paired a throwback Suzi Wong MCM crossbody and grabbed these uber cool, mirrored Elloqui sunnies for yet more bang. I could have totally seen this look with a pair of the cool, metallic oxfords with the white flatform bottoms that are trending right now, of which I don't own (I need to buy a pair!). Again I went a little matchy-matchy, but to finish off the look, instead of taking a piece off, I wore the large hoop earrings (one of my signatures) with everything else going on up top. But hey, isn't that what personal style is all about, doing it your own way, so I did it in full #SybilStreetSTYLe

Read on below for my tips on how to rock this trend, without it become denim overload!

 • If you want to try the denim on denim trend, especially if you're a beginner I would suggest to start out by pairing different shades of denim together, like white jeans and a blue denim jacket, or black jeans and a chambray shirt.
 • Then you can move on to trying different shades of blue together.
 • Next, I would recommend amping up your outfit with luxe-looking items including statement heels (animal print would be nice), a cute blazer/top coat, a dope pair of sunnies or a strong red (or other) lip color.
 • Also, add to the texture and interest of this trend by wearing jeans that are distressed or rip them if they aren't already. Finally, let's keep the denim exclusive to your clothing and steer clear pf denim bags, shoes and hats, don't want you to go denim overboard but denim chic!

Anne Klein for Mother's Day & LINKUP

May 15, 2017

Hope all you Moms had an absolute fantastic Mother's Day! My day was really nice and somewhat low key in that we didn't do the brunch, lunch or dinner crowd out this year. Instead, we stayed home and Hubs and Jr. put some goodies on the grill and enjoyed time with one another and my mom. I totally enjoyed this and I had fun just goofing off taking some pics with my fam (see below) and as well as pics for this post!

In terms of what I'm wearing, I was so up-and-down guys in making my decision for my mommy's day attire. I've packed on some pounds so either things aren't fitting or they fit and just aren't too flattering. But once again Miss Anne Klein saved the day and this cute, striped number made the final cut! I say saved the day because I posted in one of her dresses before Here that was very flattering and forgiving of my flaws and I was actually pounds lighter at that time - but still with flaws & imperfections! I love the new Anne Klein pieces, especially for a woman of a particular age, but the modernity of her collection is not limited to the middle-age crowd but younger ladies can take and wear her frocks just the same. Her pieces can be jazzed up in countless ways and funked right on up! The dress I'm wearing is super cute, comfy and has great movement, while being very feminine, and can transition from different scenarios - day (with or without jacket) or play (strappy sandals and clutch). Or like how I styled it with funky fish-nets, a statement necklace, cool sunnies and velvet sandals, giving fit & flare, BAM! So it's versatile too and can be worn between seasons. It is actually just like one I was eyeballing from the collection last year but the colors were different - pink, berry, magenta stripes. It kind of reminds me a piece my older sister would have worn in the 70s. Hey, give me a big, curly fro, some large hoop earrings, big glasses and a pair of platforms and it's on! I need to hold myself to that, lol!!! Okay, enough nostalgia, but not only does this dress fit and feel really well and has a ton of sassiness, the price point is good. It was on markdown at Macy's with a coupon on top of that, yes indeed (actually cheaper in store than it is online). Macy's carries a wide assortment of AK pieces and they have sales with coupons pretty much every week. I recommend again, heading to your local Macy's to see the entire collection for yourself, and be sure to try some pieces on and let me know what you think! #SybilStreetSTYLe

Utility Values

May 08, 2017

For all you style experts and fashion historians out there, who remembers the rationing of clothing during World War II? Lol, I don't really that much, but I do kind of remember sitting through a Survey Of Fashion lecture in college where we discussed the implications and impact of the war on clothing and costume, how garments were made to be more streamlined, simplistic and utilitarian due to such restrictions and limited materials. More so than that, I do know this jacket gets its origin from war-time uniforms (field jackets worn by troops in Vietnam) Some call it military, others call it cargo, yet still others call it utility jacket. Call it what you will, for this post, I'm emphasizing utility found in this military inspired jacket. I find so much utility in it because not only does it have multiple pockets for holding multiple items in true utility form, but more importantly, it can be worn and layered beautifully with so many different things in your closet, which provides so much value to the wearer. Of course, you can throw a denim jacket over many pieces, but doing that with this jacket lends a different vibe due to its color and shape, while adding a dash of utilitarian style and hipness to your look. Speaking of color, it's consistent with Army approved - "Olive Green 107," lol! Now back to my selling points, you can even wear it closed as a top and put a belt around it, the possibilities are many! I can't forget to mention how the jacket has three pockets instead of the typical four and the hem has some cool variations and nice topstitching details, also giving interest. Like with many other classic pieces that have military origin, a utility jacket has proved to be immune to the seasonal cycles of designer fashion. It's worn by and retained its cred with elites, and has lost no prestige with youth even as us older folks experiment with the same look. I consider it a staple to have in your closet, nestled between your jean jacket and your trench coat. Sidebar: This post is a Monday Linkup I'm linking up with: http://glassofglam.com/style/fun-accessories-link/#more-4808

For this post I just decided to pair the jacket with another piece found at the same time from Anthropologie - a striped tunic in muted values as to compliment the color value of the jacket. I went on to add my previously owned WhoWhatWear Target collection denim skirt, and amped up the sass with last year's mules from Zara (similar jeans and mules linked) finishing off with my daughter's personality glasses for some hipness to the look that not only speaks streetstyle but #SybilStreetSTYLe. Since I didn't want to wear the tunic buttoned up, I just layered it with a taupe color underpinning. This long tunic is a really soft and comfortable linen and looks just as cute worn without the tie-knot in the front, hanging long in front as well as the back. I see it left untied, long with skinny jeans with a heeled sandal or pointy toe pump with some massive toe cleavage going on, with a choker! Or a pair of cropped jeans and flats or kicks! Just a couple ideas, but however you choose to style it, make it your own, unique to you that gives you a great deal of utility!

Floral Rush

April 26, 2017

With spring in full bloom, I'm sure you lovelies have seen me posted up in quite a bit of pastel colors, especially pink (I'm a pink girl). However, I had to issue a disclaimer when posting this oh so cute floral top on IG, that I do wear other colors, especially when it's eye catching, rich and booming with saturated colors like this floral piece. The silky satin finish causes every color from the chartreuse to the berries to really pop! I love the tie neck details, with the blue & black color contrasting, asymmetrical hem and the sleeveless style which gives it a hint of sexiness. This striking top truly gave me a floral rush! I already had these blue double, wide pinstripe pants, that were going to be styled with another top, but thought of them immediately when I saw this top, as a great compliment. I finished the look with my metallic pointy toe pumps (strongest shoe option) a pair of plum tinted Chanel sunnies and a MAC lippie in Heroin to pull out of the grape/purple color of the floral print in the blouse. This look can be worn in a variety of situations, as the metallic silver really dresses it up. However, I called it an amped up business chic look, that transitions perfectly for meeting up with your girls for cocktails or a quick date night with your guy after work, in #SybilStreetSTYLe

Transforming Style From the Inside Out, Woman Of Style & Faith: Emily Carpenter

April 19, 2017

In matters of fashion our girl of faith for this week's series would describe her style as modest and understated, but in matters of faith her style is just the opposite. This young woman travels the world, boldly and liberally proclaiming the gospel as a youth missionary. Emily not only does so on soil in distant places during missions trips, but also through her blog Bloom and Bless, where her reach extends far beyond that of the ground she treads by foot. At Bloom and Bless you'll find biblical encouragement and true, faith-filled life experiences that help motivate people to bloom into who God created them to be and to bless others in the process of becoming. It is her hope that while readers are there visiting Bloom and Bless they grow closer to God and come into a deeper understanding of His great love for them! To therefore, not only know Him, but to make Him known, Please meet our phenomenal Women of Style & Faith Emily Carpenter.

Talk to us and tell our readers a little about yourself, what you do professionally, and about your blog & ministry. What about either of these inspires you?

I had been in missions for the past three years with Youth With a Mission and Island Breeze Ministries. My commitment to these organizations was completed about 6 months ago. After my commitment finished I began praying and seeking the Lord on my next step. I had always said that I eventually wanted to start my own ministry and while praying the Lord reminded me of this. The Lord spoke to me to begin blogging and gave me the name Bloom and Bless. I initially didn’t know anything about blogging but I’ve learned so much in the past 6 months and still have so much more to learn! I also am on staff with my church’s youth group, The Remnant, and really love working with the youth! Missions and ministry are definitely my callings and passions. Through blogging I have been inspired to see missions in a new way. You can reach so many people through the internet! It’s also inspired me creatively as I’ve learned more about photography, writing, and web design.

How do you couple your faith with what you do professionally?

I’ve been called into ministry so thankfully my faith is the core of what I do, but really, your faith should be the core of anything you do! I try to challenge myself to invite God into everything, even if it’s just going to the store, doing laundry, or something else that may seem mundane. You never know what He may want to speak to you or ask you to do. There have been times where the Lord has spoken to me through ordinary, routine things because I had my ears open to hear His voice. I don’t always do this perfectly though! Many times, I have to evaluate myself if I’m feeling frustrated or anxious and ask myself if I had invited God into every part of my day. If the answer is no, then I immediately go to the Lord for forgiveness and make myself attentive to His presence. I always feel better afterwards!

How do you manage and a maintain balance in the different aspects of your professional & personal life along with your relationship with God?

What advice can you give others who have interests in what you do, what type of direction would you give them?

I try to spend time with God every morning. There’s nothing like coffee and bible time. I usually listen to worship music as I get ready in the morning also. Doing these two things helps my relationship with the Lord to grow every day. I also talk to God throughout the day about what I’m feeling, the situations I’m in, or just to thank Him for His goodness. I also go to church every Sunday and help with its youth group. This keeps me in community and surrounds me with people who can help guide and challenge me in my faith.

My advice for others who have a desire for missions, ministry, or blogging is to just take the first step. That’s always the hardest but most important step to take. Don’t let fear or insecurity hold you back but instead have faith that God will have everything turn out for your good. Be bold and confident because God has given you all authority in heaven and earth! Persevere through the trials by holding onto the words and promises God has spoken over you. Pray and seek the Lord in all that you do and I guarantee you will live a life that you love.

What’s been your greatest accomplishment thus far? Tell me about the any challenges you’ve faced, how you endured and what keeps you wedded to what you do?

My greatest accomplishment so far has been having the honor to lead groups of young people to other nations to share the gospel. I never thought that was something that I would do! I have been so blessed to be able to help other people come to know God and to grow in their faith. There is no greater accomplishment than to lead a lost soul into salvation through Jesus Christ!

I have faced many challenges in going after the things God has put on my heart. I’ve been short on finances, physically ill, exhausted, and discouraged many times. I endured through these times purely through the grace of God. I faltered in trusting God in some moments where I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, but He never gave up on me or left my side. I continue to do missions and ministry despite all the trials and obstacles because it is my passion! It makes my heart beat and truly is a fire in my bones. Nothing else satisfies me like sharing about what Jesus did on the cross and the love of the Father for His children.

What about fashion do you love most or even dislike? Are there any new trends or concepts in fashion that’s piqued your interest as of late? Do you have any particular designers/stores/brands that you just love and even prefer when actually shopping for clothes? If so, tell me why these in particular are your go-to?

What I love most about fashion is that it’s an expression of who you are or even how you are feeling that day. Some days I want to wear a dress and look very feminine, and other days I just want to wear sweats and be comfortable (most often I go for the sweats). I don’t keep up too much with fashion or trends but I do like chokers, the off the shoulder look, and anything Adidas. My go to stores are PacSun and Forever 21. I usually love everything in PacSun and wish I had enough money to buy anything I want there! I like Forever 21 because it’s affordable but still so cute! I also love to support Christian clothing lines. I find many of them through Instagram and I just love what they do so much that I’m now in the process of adding a couple of Christian tees to my blog as well!

Is there anything you will not wear even if it’s considered haute or on trend?

I will not wear something that I feel is immodest or says something offensive on it. If I’m not sure if something is too revealing I go to both a Christian friend or family member and the Lord and ask them what they think about it. I’ve found though that usually if I’m unsure then it’s probably a no. I also don’t wear anything that I’m not comfortable in even if it’s cute. I love the way girls look in heels but I very rarely wear them because they hurt my feet.

I have a witty style question that I like asking all you stylish gals of faith, “What’s Your Style Innuendo” (the way you would like others to consider or view what your style is without you even saying a word when they see you)? Now, how would you describe your overall style (lifestyle) – dress, education, personality, things you do, your circle etc? How has your overall style evolved in the past few years and why?

My “Style Innunedo” is cute but modest and understated. I would describe my clothing style as comfort above all else because I love baseball caps, beanies, oversized sweatshirts and yoga pants. This fits my personality because I’m a pretty laid back person. I love to hang out at home watching The Bachelor (guilty pleasure), cuddling up next to the fireplace with a cup of tea or coffee, and reading a good book. I also enjoy traveling, which is funny because I’m a bit of a homebody, but I just love to see the different cultures and places that God created. I am equally introverted and extroverted. I need time both with people and by myself. I love to laugh and joke but many times people think that I’m serious until they get to know me. My style has changed a lot over the years. I used to only wear sweatpants in high school (my mom would often scold me for that). Now I will wear dresses more often, especially in the summer, rarely go out in public in sweatpants and if I do they are usually at least the cute Victoria’s Secret ones. My sisters are much more fashionable than I am so I borrow their clothes too!

This blog series is about not only highlighting careers, businesses and accomplishments, but transforming style from the inside out, therefore, how can one transform their style and faith in a positive, progressive manner, and maintain it without compromise?

You can transform your style and faith slowly but steadily. Most people don’t have the money to throw out their entire closet and start over, so it’s best to decide the look you want to go for and gradually build up your new closet. This is similar to how we throw out our old lives and the Lord works on us to make us more like His son. Your new faith and style can be maintained by staying determined and not giving up on them!

What’s next on the horizon for you, your blog, ministry etc?

I am so excited to announce some fun, new things the Lord is doing! I’m currently redesigning my website, adding new categories, writing an ebook, and will be selling a few cute Christian tees! I will also be speaking at a women’s conference this summer and hope to gain some experience through it. I will also soon be welcoming my first nephew! I can’t wait to him. God has great things ahead!

A Little Monkey Business, Kate Spade Tee REMIXED

April 19, 2017

Hey lady loves, happy to finally share this fun look with you, can't you tell by the big smile on my face! Seems like I was never going to get this post up. Monkey business aside, I've been getting down to business and have been very busy. Some of you know that in addition to my full-time styling duties (photo styling), I take care of a great deal of the affairs for my elderly parents' and it's been one thing after the other and it's still snowballing! Additionally some of my photo and motion styling clients have began to hire me to be their personal shopper/stylist as well. So I'm in the middle of handling wardrobe for television productions with all those deadlines along with editing closets and refreshing spring wardrobes whilst performing mommy dearest and daddy care duties! Oh and did I forget that I'm a wife and mom of two adult monkeys, LOL!!!

Okay getting down to business. This really is a fun look, because the monkey is so fun looking right?! He's a cutie on duty, in a quirky kind of way!. The first time I styled this tee for a post (here), it was fun in a hip and edgy kind of way. I funkified it a bit in true SybilStreetSTYLe by wearing window pane fish nets, with my faux leather, metallic pencil skirt and some edgy jewelry. This time, however, I wanted it to be more lighthearted. And rightfully so! Everytime I see this tee, I think about the monkey character curious George from my childhood, who was really funny! I remixed and brightened things up with pink gingham to layer underneath, white jeans and pink makeup to add to the "fun" vibe. The pinks I used this go-round was more saturated than before. This time I wore grey kicks to play on the grey base of the tee and threw on a jeweled necklace that contained the colors of this fun story, scrunched my sleeves and popped my collar! Let me know what you think! Some times #SybilStreetSTYLe is giggly fun style!

Style & Fun To Benefit Some Furry Friends

April 08, 2017

A couple nights ago, I had the pleasure of attending such a great event that benefits such a worthy cause. Fab blogger Dani Sauter of www.blondeinthedistrict.com put together this awesome night to help The Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Organization held at the Eloquii pop-up store here in Pentagon City Mall. Because of their continued efforts, each year this organization saves the lives of more than 2,600 dogs and cats every year. With everyone's support they can continue to do so. I encourage you to visit their site and lend your support whether by donating time to volunteer or financial help. I also found out that they do same day adoptions, which I think is absolutely amazing!

Plus-size fashion retailer, Eloquii was very generous in partnering with Dani to host this wonderful night to support our fur babies! They have some fab accessories and really cool on-trend plus size fashions. I picked up a pair of super cool sunnies (shown below) and some great earrings. And dare I forget the shoes, I'm actually going back to pick up a pair of those pearl slide that were dope! Also on board to make this night so magical was FromNothing2Something (fn2sartistry.com), founder and makeup artist Bianca, there with her team doing face bling rhinestone applications on all guests. Check out mine below, I was loving the bling, bling! Guests also received complimentary braids by the immensely talented hair team of Illusions of Georgetown. We were also treated to some delicious dog & cat themed treats by Sweet Earlines, so decadent and wonderfully presented! Lastly to set off the decor were florals by Rituska Inc.

I have to close by saying thank you to my baby girl #ModelOffDuty Symone, for hanging with me to support. Although she had another engagement to attend shortly after, she came along to lend to the cause and provide camera girl services too. She loves animals, especially our Shih Tzu Catan, no matter how much we laugh about him being spoiled and entitled! Symone took these awesome shots of the event - I'm thinking she needs to add photographer to repertoire! I hope you enjoy the pics and check out every vendors' site that made this event possible, and most importantly lend your support to help our furry friends. #SybilStreetSTYLe

I spotted this super cute top - everyone that knows me, knows I love pink, fur and feathers - Lord the ostrich feathers get me everytime! Simply amazing!!

Mini me and I were photoshoot ready and having fun! My top is from Zara's latest collection, Seven For All Mankind Jeans, Joe's Jeans shoes. Symone is wearing pieces from BCBG a few seasons back and kicks by Ed by Ellen DeGenere.

Love these sunnies, they pair really well with the yellow I'm wearing!

The price for these styles, what a steal at $19.90! Eloquii was even generous enough to offer guests 30% off of their already low prices during the event!

These paper florals by Rituska are so darling!

How cute are Dani's kitty kat flats, just adorable!

Transforming Style From The Inside Out: Women of Style & Faith Series, Stylist Jackie Cambron

April 05, 2017

Today I'm delighted to spotlight this beautiful gem of a lady, Jackie Cambron. When I initially reached out to Jackie concerning this interview, I found her persona to be bubbling over with sweetness and humility. She was obviously beautiful on the outside, but I soon learned that she was just as beautiful in spirit on the inside. Jackie shares with us about juggling the rigors of being a wife and stay-at-home mom to a toddler, while also doing double duty as an interior and wardrobe stylist and editor-in-chief of a lifestyle blog. She really opens up about how she learned to accept her love of fashion and nice things as God's gifting and manner in which He endowed her instead of confusing it with being superficial. Jackie also talks about, while she absolutely loves being a mom, how in the beginning her full-time responsibilities thereof, left her missing the career in real estate and visual merchandising, that she so loved. Ultimately her blog provided a platform in which to express her creative love and helped her to regain her passion. After taking a look at her images below, it's evident that creativity, love and passion flows into every project she sets her hands to, as witnessed by the beauty they posses. I'm honored to share her story below.

Tell me a little about yourself what do you do professionally and about your blog.

Hi everyone! I'm 29 years old (30 in July!) I was born in Lima-Perú and moved to Miami when I was 18. I have a degree in Marketing and Fashion Design and my passions include styling and decorating. My specialties are: homes, wardrobes, parties, and all things babies! I used to work in the Real Estate industry and as a Visual Merchandiser for two different companies. After having my little girl my husband and I decided that I would stay at home with her until she starts going to school. It was tough in the beginning knowing that I was not gonna go back to work and do what I love for a few years but God gave me the peace and the courage I needed to take that big step. Almost two years ago I decided to keep my passions alive through "My Tuilerie Box by Jackie Cambron". This is a lifestyle blog where I get to share most of my personal interests like the ones I mentioned above and one of my main goals is to help, inspire, and motivate women to do what they love, to listen to their hearts and to be unique like God created us to be.

How do you manage and a maintain balance in the different aspects of your professional & personal life along with your relationship with God?

I would love to start with a short story.

When my mother-in-law introduced me to Jesus and I became a Christian, I started studying the word of God and reading books to help me understand what my purpose was. Immediately after I felt a little guilty for liking fashion and even nice things. I associated that with being "superficial" especially when I went shopping! I came to the conclusion that God has created us with certain gifts and different personalities for a reason! I was totally confusing the word "superficial" with what I call now "a taste for the art of fashion and style". Our God is purposeful! He is the God of the universe and He loves to strengthen our abilities and expand our potential so that we can serve Him more effectively! One day everything made sense to me and only with His help and direction I learned the perfect balance between the things of this world, my career and my family. I realized there is nothing wrong with being fashionable while being a believer. Being fashionable is not about revealing our bodies but revealing our personalities. I think the "world" portrays Christian woman as boring and plain, however, we are unique and made in His image! We are all his representatives (2-Corinthians 5:20) and I know the Lord doesn't have any problem with women that want to feel confident and beautiful if we are also clothed with strength and dignity while keeping our integrity (Proverbs 31:22, 25 ESV). If fashion and style is what you like then don't get discouraged, use also your gifts to reflect who you are in Christ! I wanted to share this verse with you: “She makes bed coverings for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple."

Proverbs 31:22-23

In this verse He describes a woman that fears the Lord. At that time linen was a very expensive fabric because it was very hard to process and some Egyptians used it to wrap dead bodies as a symbol of wealth. Today the modern linen is still an expensive fabric and produced in small amounts. So, I don't think the Lord has a problem with us wearing pretty or even fine things as long as we make Him our focus and not let these things own us.

Only with His help and direction I learned the perfect balance between the things of this world, my career and my family. I found the perfect balance prioritizing and dividing my time so I don't get too caught up in one particular thing. Every morning as soon as I wake up I pray, and read my devotional. I really enjoy my quiet times with Him, but as any mother knows those "quiet times" sometimes are pretty rare. I simply take advantage of each moment I have, no matter how long or where it is. Mornings with good contemporary worship music are very important to me! I love to start with "How great is our God" by Chris Tomlin. After the Bible, worship music also reminds me of how much He loves us and that I am never alone. I also love how those songs inspire me and motivate me to accomplish whatever is on my to-do list while feeling His presence.

Additionally, I like to plan my blog posts every Monday and I set deadlines for myself so I can distribute my time more efficiently without interrupting all the activities with my daughter, my husband and the church. I really enjoy going to bible studies during the week and to share stories with other believers, that really helps me grow in my faith and my trust. In the past I've met other women at Bible studies that had the same appreciation for fashion, home decor, styling etc and they have always been great support and we always held each other accountable.

What advice can you give others who have interests in what you do, what type of direction would you give them?

My advice to anyone is to trust Him and let Him lead you because God's leadings are usually consistent with the person he made you to be. Whatever you do do it with love and integrity and set Christ as part of your everyday life so we can constantly produce the fruit of His spirit to the world which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. I heard this the other day at church: "Know who you are, know where are you going and why are you here".

What’s been your greatest accomplishment thus far?

My greatest accomplishment with my blog has been finding my purpose again but in a different way than what it started out as. Something that started as a hobby is turning into a rain of blessings and opportunities that are helping me to grow spiritually and as a professional. Great projects are coming up and I can't wait to share them with you!

Tell me about any challenges you’ve faced. How you endured and what keeps you wedded to what you do?

One of my biggest challenges was to balance my time between the blog, my daughter and my husband. I know it seems easy to number them but trust me, it was hard in the beginning because I was used to doing everything alone and without any distractions. I started my blog when my daughter was about eight months. Since she required so much attention I started feeling a little frustrated knowing that I was not going to have enough time to myself. Also, doing the things I liked now required a baby sitter or help from a family member. However, I didn't want to miss any moment next to her since the Lord blessed to me be there with her. I now had the opportunity to be able to stay at home watching her grow everyday without any financial responsibilities to worry about! I also knew she was only going be a baby for a short time and I needed to take advantage of every moment. That is when I decided to be a mom and a wife during the day and a blogger by night (between the hours of 7-11pm). Photos were always taken on the weekends and sometimes during the week when I had help. She is turning three in April and time flew by as she became a confident and independent beautiful little girl. I am glad I stuck to the decision of staying at home for her first 2 years. I now feel I have plenty of time to do what I love while she is in classes or hanging out with dad.

She is the one that keeps me motivated to do what I do because I want her to feel proud of her mom and one day whenever she is old enough I would love to share and teach her everything I've learned in life, passing my legacy on to her.

What about fashion do you love most? Are there any new trends or concepts in fashion that’s piqued your interest as of late?

I love all things fashion! As a fashion designer I love that how the fashion industry gives us the opportunity to explore and create our own style. I love how it challenges us to be who we are and to make our imaginations fly high!

When it comes to fashion, I honestly don't believe in rules as long as what I am wearing looks good, makes sense and makes me feel comfortable and confident. However, I do appreciate trends! One of my favorite trends this year for Spring-Summer are the banker stripes and the single shoulder cutouts!

Do you have any particular designers/stores/brands that you just love and even prefer when actually shopping for clothes? If so, tell me why these in particular are your go-to?

Difficult question! There are so many amazing designers but I'm gonna name three that I admire a lot. John Galliano because of his feminine, original designs and classic cuts in most of his collections. Stella McCartney because her designs are always classy and full of personality. The third one will be Tori Praver, I admire that woman! Not only because of her laid back beach style and her beautiful bikini designs but also because she has a heart of gold, she is such a dedicated mom and she always reflects positivism and love in everything she does.

When it comes to places where I shop regularly I would say Revolve, Sole Society, Nordstrom, TopShop, Asos and Nk-ad because they have very easy websites to shop online (all of them have an app right now which makes it even easier), they always have my sizes in stock and they are on point with the latest trends.

Is there anything you will not wear even if it's considered haute or on trend, especially due to your beliefs and how you represent yourself as a Woman of God?

One of the things I would never wear are transparent tulle shirts and Pum-pum shorts. I generally try not to wear anything too revealing, because I don't want to be what makes someone else stumble. I'm sure there are more but these things immediately come to mind. I feel I represent myself as a woman of God by showing love to my family, friends and people in general. And by being obedient to Him and humble to accept wise teaching and applying it to my greatest potential. Finally by being selfless to my family putting their needs ahead of my own. I am a woman that submits to God 100% and his Word is my standard of life, His Word is my guide to walk in wisdom, dignity and strength. I am definitely not perfect but I know who I am in Christ.

I have a witty style question that I like asking all you stylish gals of faith, “What’s Your Style Innuendo” (the way you would like others to consider or view what your style is without you even saying a word when they see you)? Now, how would you describe your overall style (lifestyle)

I would say that my style innuendo would be natural-classic and a little bit of boho-chic in the Summer. I love clothes that are practical and comfortable yet stylish. I also prefer minimalistic makeup and accessories in every look depending on the occasion. No matter what, I try and stick with the trends that go with my personality and lifestyle.

I would describe my overall lifestyle as a very active yet calm/chill and organized. I never like rushing in anything, I like to take my time when I have to do something or to make a decision.

I love and enjoy the routine I have from Monday to Friday with my family, with the blog and friends. I'm always creating, learning, planning and of course enjoying my alone time with God every single day.

This blog series is about not only highlighting careers, businesses and accomplishments, but transforming style from the inside out, therefore, how can one transform their style and faith in a positive, progressive manner, and maintain without compromise?

Keeping God first has transformed my life. He is the focal point of every day. One of The most important things to me is having clear what my intentions are in everything I do and to trust him. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Every time I feel pull into something I know is not part of his best plan for me I pray because I know he is more powerful than any pull I could be feeling.

What’s next on the horizon for you, your blog, ministry etc?

What's next for my career is to open my own online boutique and to go back to The Real estate world as soon as my daughter turns three. I am also planning on keeping my blog and to be able to incorporate it with my weekly activities. Again, those are my plans but let's see what God has in store for my family and me. His plans are always better than mine! :)

Lunch Date - Floral Pant Outfit + Kate Spade Glitter Slippers

March 27, 2017

Hey beauties spring is in the air! For me that means floral blooms, and prints of all sorts. I love prints, so when I came across this fab print in Ann Taylor while doing #WardrobeHustle for work I was quite intrigued! Not only do I love prints, but I love the pajama look trend and while the top to this ensemble doesn't really reflect that, the pants sure do. I have to admit I was a bit skeptical in how I would style these pieces and give it some sass and pop and to make it not so classic looking (or like an old lady outfit as my Hubs calls it). I thought, those adorable little Kate Spade glitter mules I had picked up at Bloomies! Hence mixing this floral print blouse and the matching pants, with glitter and pom pom was a no brainer! As mentioned, I love the pajama trend and this particular set didn't look 'too' much like a pair of actual pjs as some I've seen. By wearing the two pieces as a set, the pairing totally creates the feel of the very cool sleepwear trend. Although the print is so bold, I still went for some bling with my necklace and a gold hoop opposed to really quiet jewelry. Like I said, I was trying to do my thing, and give the look some sass and pop! My fab vintage Emma Hope ostrich feather purse in a pop of green and my gold Miu Miu sunnies, complete my look creating this fiercely chic outfit and did just what I wanted it to do! These were the perfect elements to take pieces considered fairly classic and make them cool and chic, in true #SybilStreetSTYLe

I called this post, my date with Ann & Kate - Ann Taylor and Kate Spade that is! So I started shooting in MD at the National Harbor and actually grabbed some lunch at Belvedere Lobby Bar within the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. Then headed to the mall area in downtown D.C. at the Jefferson Memorial. It was a chic, great date, if I do say so myself!

Transforming Style From the Inside Out: Women of Style & Faith, Jessica Ariane, Makeup Artist, Interior Designer & Songstress

March 22, 2017

Once seated in this makeup maven’s chair, Jessica is known for giving her client's life changing makeovers. Upon meeting her, I knew it was something different about her, not only her knack for meticulously beating a face into perfection, but her caring, warm and friendly demeanor. The consummate professional, she is always endeavoring to uplift and impart confidence through her ministry of makeup to every individual she works with. We love that this talented artist assuredness rest in her total trust and belief in the Creator above and I am delighted to share my interview:

Welcome Jessica, thanks for sitting down with us to share your story! Please tell us about yourself - what you do professionally and what you have going on in regards to any ministry endeavors etc?

I am a professional Makeup Artist and owner of Jay Ariane Makeup based in DC, Interior Designer and artist. I've been a makeup artist for five years and recently decided to pick up where I'd left off with interior design. I've been on a home staging team for a few months. I've also been singing with the praise and worship team at my local church (Bethel City of Hope) for 11 years.

How do you couple your faith with what you do professionally?

Ministering to people and aiding in confidence building is an imperative part of my job. I find that repeat business not just happens because of great work but because of how you make the individuals around you feel. Everyone has a story and you'd be surprised how much people open up when you're in close proximity to them. Whether on a print ad shoot, on set with male anchors for CBN News or in a bridal suite, my goal is to encourage and uplift every person who sits in my makeup chair.

How do you manage and a maintain balance in the different aspects of your professional & personal life along with your relationship with God?

Here is what I do: Set aside time for daily devotion and prayer which helps me remain focused. I write everything down and have a daily task schedule that gets checked off; which aids in my productivity. I workout at least four times a week with a friend. I write down two positive things that made me happy each day as a reminder to remain grateful.

What advice can you give others who have interests in what you do, what type of direction would you give them?

The two biggest pieces of advice I'd give aspiring makeup artists is:

 1. Find your niche! Meaning what kind of makeup artist do you want to brand yourself as? (bridal? broadcasting? film? special effects? fashion? commercial? special events?) Once you determine that, it'll be easier to navigate through this complex yet small industry. You'll know what to focus on and seek mentorship from experts already in that "genre".
 2. Spend your money on reputable artists who have tenure and can guide you. I meet so many people who go to classes hosted by Instagram makeup artists...and are disappointed that they got nothing out of it that they couldn't have gotten from watching a Youtube video. If a makeup artist's feed is mostly makeup on their own face and there's nothing else as far as diversity is concerned...save your coins!

What’s been your greatest accomplishment thus far?

So far, my greatest accomplishment has been quitting my full time job and going into business for myself. It wasn't easy, but it is worth it.

Tell me about the any challenges you’ve faced, how you endured and what keeps you wedded to what you do?

In the beauty industry, I've encountered a lot of individuals that come around and seem to be there for their own selfish gain and motives. They seem to have genuine interest in building a professional relationship but as soon as they use you and no longer need you, they discard you. I've been burned a few times and I remember praying for God to give me the gift of discernment in order to perceive the spirit of those that surround me and to sift the good from the time wasters. What keeps me rooted is my resilience in spite of obstacles and the assurance that my life, my success, is in no-one else's hands but God's. I do my part to the best of my natural ability and God adds the super!

What about fashion do you love most? Are there any new trends or concepts in fashion that’s piqued your interest as of late? Do you have any particular designers/stores/brands that you just love and even prefer when actually shopping for clothes or when reviewing certain pieces to blog? If so, tell me why these in particular are your go-to?

What I most love about fashion is the ability to express one's self. Lately, I've been into crisp white tops, baby blues, light peaches, neutrals, baby pinks and just about anything soft, feminine yet elegant. I enjoy mixing the soft with funky jewelry. I enjoy shopping at Saks, Nordstrom, Zara, Asos, to name a few. I also quite enjoy thrift and consignment store shopping for accessories.

Is there anything you will not wear even if it’s considered haute or on trend?

That yeezy trend with holes everywhere and plastic/transparent boots?? I'll pass!

I'd say my style innuendo is 'modern/chic with a splash of fun". My style changes based on how I feel. Some days, it's a leather jacket and high waisted pants, other days it's an off-the-shoulder knee length flowy denim dress. My style choices change often because I incorporate some trendy pieces but I do have go to classics that don't fail

This blog series is about not only highlighting careers, businesses and accomplishments, but transforming style from the inside out, therefore, how can one transform their style and faith in a positive progressive manner, maintain it and do so without compromise? BONUS! I’m throwing this out here, what are your thoughts on saved folk wearing tattoos- just like wearing an accessory and do you wear it as an accessory, or are you against it personally because of scripture?

I highly recommend individuals who have a hard time tastefully transforming their styles to book a consultation with a wardrobe stylist. An expert like Sybil Street can guide and educate you on the types of pieces that will enhance the body, push you out of your comfort zone, and create looks that will enable you to brand yourself confidently without compromising your standards. Women can be chic without exposing their body parts, some things are to be kept between you, your maker and your spouse. In regards to tattoos, I would personally never have tattoos, but have no issue with saved folks having them (as long as they are tastefully done).

What can we expect next from you professionally and personally, even in ministry?

What's next is the expansion of my bridal brand and opening a salon. I'd also like to divulge more time to be a blessing to women who've had a hard journeys whether through music and/or pampering. Lastly, a personal goal is to make use of my passport and travel more!!

Kate Spade Monkey Tee + Fishnets

March 14, 2017

Some Fashionable Monkey Business Going On! Whoever thought monkey business could be so stylish and cute, I guess Kate Spade did when they designed this adorable tee that I'm wearing! I peeped this at a local bloggers meet-up event - Bubbles & Bloggers held at the Kate Spade location in downtown D.C. When I seen it, I immediately knew I had to have it because I love pink. Not only do I love pink, but pink animals and graphics on tees, bags, accessories you name it. I generally try to score items with pink flamingoes, but when I seen this pink monkey, I thought how cute is that, and didn't think twice about being disloyal to my pink bird friends. Sorry flamingoes I know I'm cheating and having a little love affair with monkeys right now, but the pink impish simian has stolen my heart!

This tee is part of Kate Spades Broome Street Collection. Broome Street is their new label of casual, timeless separates that easily mix into other Kate Spade pieces giving more ways to wear every piece.

Since the tee is lighthearted with an element of chic, rather than styling it with jeans or a pant, this time, I decided pull out my rose gold (pink undertones) metallic faux leather skirt from the holidays to amp up the chic factor, but with a sneaker, also in pink, to lend more of a street-style look but still fun. I've had these window pane (as we called them) fishnets for years in black and neutral, so since they're a hot fashion commodity right now, I've been wearing them with my kicks unlike in past years where I've worn them only with pumps, sandals and boots. The fishnets totally set it off along with the big throwback gold chains. I added another element of pink with my clutch from Joe Fresh (old) and topped the look off with my trustee, go-to top coat for another layer of interest and to play on the neutral color fishnets and tie it all together! The outcome was a cool, hip but fun look, full of my favorite color, in various shades woven throughout, just the way I like it in #SybilStreetSTYLe!

Although the weather has been so bipolar here where I live, Spring is in bloom as witnessed by the beautiful blossoms in this shot, it's the perfect backdrop set against this pink outfit!

Floral Maxi Dress

March 08, 2017

Hey dolls! How cute is my floral maxi meant to transition me into Spring! We're already into March and for the last few weeks I've been busy with sourcing wardrobe for clients and a production. In my market runs during wardrobe pulls, I'll often spot a piece or two that I like for myself and grab it while I can. Since I've been thinking about updating my personal wardrobe to transition into Spring, I had been considering colors and more floral for such. I seen this flowy wrap dress and thought it was pretty and a nice segway into Spring. The weather has been very temperamental and unseasonal here in the DMV, so I kinda thought I'd be wearing it with an open-toe pump or heeled sandal as the temperatures had been warm. Well turns out it was cold, like wintery cold on this particular Sunday. Instead of waiting to wear this dress on a warmer day, I opted to make it work and throw on a pair of tights, metallic scarf, an ankle boot and my lux faux fur. A good way to still wear all your spring & summer floral dresses in colder months. These accessories took the dress from the typical flowy, feminine and flirty of Spring to more of a dramatic, glamorous diva-fied vibe in true #SybilStreetSTYLe

Women of Style & Faith, Dr. Lillian Gibson: Author, Coach & Therapist

February 22, 2017

Today’s Women of Style & Faith, Relationship Expert & Author, Dr. Lillian Gibson gives us a glimpse into the balancing act of her life and how she executes in purpose helping to bring balance and harmony to others, especially that of women who are married or aspiring to be married.

Dr. Lil we are delighted to feature you and the amazing things you are doing! Tell Saintly Style a little about yourself and those amazing things.

I’m a licensed clinical psychologist often referred to as a “mood make-over” expert. For the past eight years I have been known to guide clients away from feeling overwhelmed, hurt, frustrated, and sad into a life of peace and happiness. I developed this passion as a young girl after seeing a family member battle depression (discussed with Miss to Mrs.). My goal is to help patients solve their problems through individual, group, or couples therapy for emotional healing and restoration.

One of my passions is to enhance the love lives of couples desiring fulfilling marriages. I know all too well about relationship challenges that often pull couples apart, but have found that most people end their relationships prematurely due to lack of information and steps to build endless love. I enjoy teaching soulmates creative ways to increase marital intimacy, and divorce proof their unions by being proactive instead of reactive. I have found that newlyweds experience less conflict when spousal roles are adequately identified. Couples that I work with learn unique communication styles to overcome their struggles. My book, Miss to Mrs., helps women transition from being single to happily married.

As an independent and autonomous woman, I personally know how difficult it is to settle into a committed relationship. Sometimes marriage has so many responsibilities that one can feel like they are losing themselves and their identity. After successfully overcoming marriage hurdles I found it important to share practical tips with other women, so they too can feel empowered when navigating their relationships.

Additionally, after helping several people shed unwanted weight, I was led to coach women on “clean eating secrets.” My techniques were so easy they spread like wildfire. Gibson Life Organizational Services (GLOS), an on-line program, was eventually launched. Women across the country have lost over 500 pounds by using my food system known as the GLOS Formula. The program helps women develop nurturing relationships with food while improving their health.

What motivated you to write your book?

I feel women are coached in so many different life areas, but aren’t taught how to thrive in a marriage. The experience of love for strong women has been a long standing under addressed issue, so I felt the book was greatly needed.

After successfully overcoming marriage hurdles I found it important to share practical tips with other women, so they too can feel empowered when navigating their relationships. Women can have it all: a great career and an amazing love life if given the right resources.

Please speak to the role of faith in your life -how do you couple your faith with what you do on a professional level?

I understand and accept that I exist because He exists, and I honor the fact God has given me this message to share with people across the world. I also know that everyone has a purpose and a message, and I didn’t want time to pass while I harbored knowledge that could have helped someone. Doing so would have been neglectful, and I don’t want that to be on “my shoulders.” I feel if you are a believer and God gives you a meaningful word it’s our duty to use our strengths and talents to spread that word.

How do you manage and a maintain balance in the different aspects of your professional & personal life along with your relationship with God?

Here is what I do:
-Set aside time for daily meditation (it helps me spiritually and for mental focus each day)
-Go to be early and wake up early so I can plan my day and maximize my time (it prevents me from getting overwhelmed)
-I prioritize my life: self-care, family, and God come first, other commitments take a backseat and get scheduled based on dates and urgency
-I don't over commit myself. There are a lot of events that take place in my city (Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex), but most times I only schedule one event a month and spend the rest of my time with family and friends
-I workout at least twice a week
-I eat clean to energize and nourish my body (my clean eating website is www.getglosed.com I will have a 21 day mind, body, and spirit clean eating program staring next month)
-infuse my spirit with thanksgiving and service to others (my job as a therapist helps with this, but I also am very thankful for what God has done for my life and how he uses me so I do a Thanks list weekly)

There may be ladies out there who feel they have this same purpose to help other women in their journey being happily marriage, what advice can you give them?

If a young lady is interested in doing, I would tell her that commitment and dedication make a great mix for excellence. Like the saying goes: If one can think it...then they can achieve it (I heard this saying a lot when I was younger and believe it to be true).

I would also encourage her to do a little soul searching and connect with the passion, drive, and power that God has given her to impact the world. As I discuss in my book, tuning into the spirit and withdrawing from the fight to stay complacent was the best thing I could have ever done!

Can you provide any specific advice or wisdom to the both the single woman hoping to soon be married and the married woman (newlywed and seasoned).

It seems that most couples typically experience 3-4 different developmental stages throughout their relationships, and most individuals (single, engaged, and newlyweds) assume their growing pains are a sign of disaster and that’s simply not the case.

Unlike seasoned couples, a lot people entering into a relationship fear they’ve made the wrong mate selection or feel their issues can’t be resolved and this is untrue. Most couples struggle, because they do not seek pre-marital consultation, or marriage counseling to overcome marriage pitfalls. Every committed couple has the opportunity to strengthen their relationship if given the right tools to guide their journey. For me, coaching women on how to use female autonomy to make the best decisions for their love lives has given women the freedom to be in control of their relationships. It’s always a pleasure for me to help my clients navigate their marriages based on my education, training, and experiences.

As a therapist I have seen my own journey within so many other women from all walks of life. We are all virtually the same considering the emotional, spiritual, and psychological changes that occur within committed relationships. I’ve seen too many women suffering in their marriages without a guide to help them find clarity and meaning. Once I identified my struggles I searched for practical blogs and books to help me find my voice when transitioning from single to married, but there were none. When I committed to writing my book I knew it was an important message, could help someone, and save a number of marriages from divorce.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?

In writing my book, I learned that every struggle has contributed to my growth, it’s okay to be imperfect, allowing others to enhance your life is a strength, and leaning into my spiritual beliefs is my foundation.

Helping women overcome any getting settled issues once married. Also, when empowering married women with techniques on how to develop their voices as wives, practice good self-care, and develop an oneness spirit with their spouses.

Being a renaissance woman and at home a loving wife and supermom.

Tell me about the any challenges you’ve faced, how you endured and what keeps you wedded to what you do?

Conquering fear has been my largest victory as an author. I wondered if anyone could truly relate to my struggles and experiences. I was also hesitant about being too open and transparent, but I knew if I held back or didn’t say what I needed to say my readers wouldn’t connect with me. To overcome this internal challenge I pushed forward and vowed to see the project completed from beginning to end no matter how many negative thoughts popped into my mind.

Since this is a life+style blog, let us know any particular clothing designers or brands that you just love? Is there anything you will not wear even if it’s considered haute, on trend and popular? Basically, was there ever a time you would not wear something due to your convictions and Christian values, if so briefly touch on that?

I really shop anywhere where there is a sale! I love quality clothes and bargains! There are something's I won't wear: low cut clothing and clothes that show my bare buttocks. I think a women's appearance says a lot about who she is.

My style question that I like asking all you stylish gals of faith, “What’s your Style Innuendo” (the way you would like others to consider or view what your style is without you even saying a word when they see you)? And just tell us about your overall style.

I would say my style is colorful and modern. I love to wear clothes that fit my mood and personality. My clients always rave about my colors, and they too feel inspired to wear something bright and uplifting.

How has your overall style evolved in the past few years?

My style has grown over the years. I was too conservative and too boring. So I decided to step out of the box and wear clothes that made me feel vibrant and more my age. I love fun clothes and accessories, but they will always be tasteful. Speaking of which, I love earrings, big necklaces, and fashion rings to match my outfits.

What’s next on the horizon for you, chat with us about new projects etc?

I am actually in the works of developing a coaching program teaching women how to execute key concepts from the book. I will have a specific coaching plan for recently engaged and newlywed women, and another plan for women married 24 months or longer. Women will learn how to appropriately use varying communication styles, how to develop a spousal identity as a wife, how to develop marital anchors, and how to work with their partners to generate marital values to guide their union. I think this will be a great complement to the book.

Dreamy lace dress styled with edge

February 20, 2017

Hey lady loves! If you've been following me you're probably thinking this dress is a departure from my norm types of outfit I post. I'm seriously a lady no doubt, but I don't normally lean toward lace in my wardrobe options unless some detail about it hinges on edgy or funky. But I thought this dress is really adorable and why not veer from the norm and funkify it with my own twist. After all it's beautifully made and can be worn so many different ways (and places outside of a wedding) and going into 2017 I've vowed to do some things differently. Not to mention this is a piece that one could have in their closet for years and still wear for years without dating you. So my take was to add one of the biggest trends of the season - the OTK boot in a pop of color. And voila there you have it - this dreamy little, romantic lace number is now exuding some edge and sass appeal in true #SybilStreetSTYLe!
